WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO
For many years, I was a lawyer, buried in details that rarely delighted anyone, least of all me. My days were filled with grey words, and food became a vibrant window to new ways of being. One day, I decided to take a huge leap and go to culinary school.
The journey hasn’t been meteoric; learning to cook demands bravery, mistakes, and repetition until it lives in your senses. It’s not easy, but even my worst days in the kitchen beats my best behind a desk.
Many folks do a great job of showcasing the bounty of the sea, but PEI is more than a beautiful coastline. Just a few minutes inland, PEI turns into a lush farmer’s paradise and I want to share this side of the Island with our guests. I’m excited to welcome you to my crazy little dream. We hope you enjoy our simple, fun food, and celebrate the seasons, products and people that call this Island home.

Our Mascot
My Dad’s passion is racing sail boats. Like most sailors, he is equal parts salt and sweet. Devoting your free time to something as ungovernable as the wind and current takes a gritty kind of love. When I said I wanted to pursue a culinary career at 46, my Dad just asked, “what do you need to make it happen?”. Really, racing boats and opening a food trailer are not so different from each other. Both ventures are risky, they require a lot of work, and success often depends on things both inside and outside your control. Dad knew I would face rough seas, but he also believes that the wind will hit my sails when the time is right. It’s that gritty belief that gets you where you want to be. That’s why I call this place “Old Salt”.
